The program aids in recognizing students who require augmentative communication intervention services. It involves thorough evaluations of students with significant communication challenges and offers consultation and support to staff working with these students. Additionally, it includes individual or small group training on specific augmentative communication aids, techniques, and strategies. The Assistive program assesses how well a student can engage with the curriculum based on their disability and works with the educational team to pinpoint suitable software and adaptive equipment that allows for greater independence in learning. Training and consultations are provided to students, staff, and families on the recommended adaptive tools and software. Equipment orders are also processed for the respective school districts upon request.
