The Way Back
Community Resource
About this resource
Participants in the Apartment Treatment Program typically need less assistance from staff compared to those in the Supported Housing Program. The frequency of staff visits is tailored to the individual needs of residents, with counselors usually visiting 3 to 5 times weekly. If additional help is required, visits can be increased. Residents also have 24-hour access to staff via phone for emergencies. This program enables residents to maintain independence while still benefiting from regular staff interaction. They focus on skills essential for independent living, including managing symptoms and medications, utilizing community resources, and budgeting. The Apartment Treatment locations are spread across Suffolk County, Long Island, NY, ensuring convenient access to public transport, shops, recreational areas, and various services. Each apartment is a private home providing individual bedrooms for residents.
