About this resource
The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) is a federally funded initiative designed to help qualifying households manage their energy expenses. Eligible participants may receive one standard HEAP benefit each program year and may qualify for emergency assistance if they risk running out of fuel or facing a utility service disconnection. The Regular HEAP benefit for the 2024-2025 period became available on November 1, 2024, while the First and Second Emergency benefits are set to commence on January 2, 2025. Additionally, the Heating Equipment Repair and Replacement benefit started on October 1, 2024, and the Cooling Assistance Benefit is expected to open on April 15, 2025.

Who can use this
- Regular HEAP is available to low-income families, seniors aged 60 and older, and individuals with permanent disabilities receiving Food Stamps, TANF, or SSI, while Emergency HEAP is for those facing urgent situations.
