Tompkins County Whole Health

Records of births and deaths for those born or who passed away in Tompkins County are accessible from 1880 onward. Individuals eligible to obtain a birth certificate include the person named on the certificate, a parent (whose name must appear on the certificate), a permanent legal guardian, or a legal representative with valid proof of guardianship or power of attorney. Others may acquire these records through a New York State Court order. The fee for original birth and death certificates is $30 per individual per request, while duplicates for the same individual in the same order cost $15 each. Payments can be made via check or money order made out to TCHD, or in cash (credit and debit cards are not accepted).
