About this resource
The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) is a federally funded initiative designed to help eligible households manage their energy expenses. Qualified individuals may receive one regular HEAP benefit each program year and may also qualify for emergency benefits if they face the risk of running out of fuel or having their utility services disconnected. The application period for the 2024-2025 Regular HEAP benefit commenced on November 1, 2024, while the First and Second Emergency benefits are set to begin on January 2, 2025. Additionally, the Heating Equipment Repair and Replacement benefit became available on October 1, 2024, and the Cooling Assistance Benefit is expected to open on April 15, 2025.

Who can use this
- Regular HEAP is available to low-income families, individuals aged 60 and older, and those with permanent disabilities who receive Food Stamps, TANF, or SSI; Emergency HEAP is for low-income families and individuals facing urgent situations.
