About this resource
The Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) processes applications for financial support aimed at low-income individuals, offering several benefit options such as: Regular benefits that help with home heating costs, Emergency benefits for those in a heat-related crisis, assistance for repairing or replacing heating equipment for homeowners, Heating Equipment Tune-Ups for pre-season inspections and cleanings, and Cooling Assistance for eligible households, particularly those with members who have medical conditions worsened by heat.
Application Process: For regular benefits, applicants can call, visit the website, or submit an application by mail. Households receiving SNAP should contact their worker for help, while those on temporary assistance should reach out to their assigned worker. Other households can call the appointment line for details. Emergency benefits require a call or walk-in after having received a regular HEAP benefit.
Cost: There are no fees for these services.
