About this resource
The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) is a federally funded initiative designed to help qualifying households manage their energy expenses. Eligible participants can receive one regular HEAP benefit each program year and may qualify for emergency HEAP benefits if they face the risk of running out of fuel or having their utility services disconnected. The 2024-2025 Regular HEAP benefit became available on November 1, 2024, while the First and Second Emergency benefits are set to open on January 2, 2025. Additionally, the Heating Equipment Repair and Replacement benefit started on October 1, 2024, and the Cooling Assistance Benefit is expected to launch on April 15, 2025.

Who can use this
- Regular HEAP is available for low-income families, individuals aged 60 and older, and those with permanent disabilities receiving Food Stamps, TANF, or SSI, while Emergency HEAP is for low-income families and individuals facing emergencies.
