About this resource

The Town Clerk's office is essential to the functioning of Town business, acting as the Records Management Officer. The Clerk oversees all records, manages active files, handles the disposal of inactive records, and safeguards the archives. Serving as the Secretary to the Town Board, the Clerk is tasked with preparing and keeping the minutes of Town Board meetings. This office also processes Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) requests for important documents and offers complimentary notary services. Additionally, the Town Clerk is responsible for issuing State licenses, such as those for marriage, birth, death, hunting, and fishing, as well as local licenses and permits, including commuter parking, peddlers, solicitors, and film permits. Furthermore, the Clerk acts as a designated Marriage Officer and, as the Registrar of Vital Statistics, manages all birth and death records in the Town.
