About this resource
The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) is a federally funded initiative designed to help eligible households address their energy needs. If you qualify, you can receive one standard HEAP benefit each program year, and you may also qualify for emergency HEAP benefits if you face the risk of running out of fuel or having your utility service disconnected. The Regular HEAP benefit for 2024-2025 began on November 1, 2024, while the First and Second Emergency benefits are set to start on January 2, 2025. Additionally, the Heating Equipment Repair and Replacement benefit opened on October 1, 2024, and the HEAP Clean and Tune benefit also became available on October 1, 2024. The Cooling Assistance Benefit is expected to open on April 15, 2025.

Who can use this
- Regular HEAP: Available to low-income families, individuals aged 60 and older, and those with permanent disabilities who receive Food Stamps, TANF, or SSI; Emergency HEAP is for low-income families and individuals facing an emergency.
