About this resource
The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) is a federally funded initiative designed to help eligible households address their energy requirements. If you qualify, you may receive one regular HEAP benefit each program year and might also qualify for emergency HEAP assistance if you're at risk of depleting your fuel supply or having your utility service disconnected. The 2024-2025 Regular HEAP benefit became available on November 1, 2024. The First and Second Emergency benefits for 2024-2025 are set to begin on January 2, 2025. Additionally, the Heating Equipment Repair and Replacement benefit opened on October 1, 2024, and the Cooling Assistance Benefit is expected to be available starting April 15, 2025.

Who can use this
- Regular HEAP: Low-income households, individuals aged 60 and over, and those with permanent disabilities receiving Food Stamps, TANF, or SSI; Emergency HEAP Eligibility: Low-income households and individuals facing emergencies related to furnace repair or replacement.
