About this resource
The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) is a federally funded initiative designed to help eligible households with their energy requirements. If you qualify, you can receive one regular HEAP benefit each program year and may also qualify for emergency HEAP benefits if you're at risk of running out of fuel or having your utility services disconnected. The Regular HEAP benefit for the 2024-2025 season began on November 1, 2024. The First and Second Emergency benefits are set to open on January 2, 2025. Additionally, the Heating Equipment Repair and Replacement benefit became available on October 1, 2024, and the Cooling Assistance Benefit is expected to start on April 15, 2025.

Who can use this
- Regular HEAP: Low-income households, individuals aged 60 and above, and those with permanent disabilities, as well as recipients of Food Stamps, TANF, or SSI; Emergency HEAP eligibility: Low-income families and individuals facing an emergency.
