About this resource
The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) is a federally funded initiative designed to help eligible households manage their energy expenses. If you qualify, you can receive one regular HEAP benefit each program year, and you may also qualify for emergency HEAP assistance if you risk running out of fuel or having your utility service disconnected. The 2024-2025 Regular HEAP benefit became available on November 1, 2024, while the First and Second Emergency benefits are set to open on January 2, 2025. Additionally, the Heating Equipment Repair and Replacement benefit started on October 1, 2024, and the Cooling Assistance Benefit is scheduled to begin on April 15, 2025.

Who can use this
- Regular HEAP: Low-income families, individuals aged 60 and above, and those with permanent disabilities receiving Food Stamps, TANF, or SSI; Emergency HEAP eligibility includes low-income families and individuals facing an emergency requiring furnace repair or replacement.
