About this resource
This initiative provides workshops aimed at parents who are separated, undergoing divorce, or have divorced, as well as those who have children without being married. The goal is to equip these parents with the knowledge and abilities necessary to comprehend and address their children's specific needs arising from the separation or divorce, ensuring they can effectively fulfill their parenting roles despite no longer being together. Topics covered may include the effects of separation and divorce on families, children's developmental stages and typical responses to divorce, strategies for reducing stress and aiding children in coping, guidelines for resolving custody disputes amicably, identifying when a child may require additional support, and locating helpful resources. Participants who complete the program will receive a Certificate of Completion. Note that child care is not provided.
Intake Procedure: Interested individuals should call for the schedule or check the website. This class is conducted online.
Travel/Location: The venue is situated off SW Country Club Drive between 35th and 53rd Streets, sharing a driveway with Starker Arts and Sunset Parks.
Fees: The cost is $50 per participant.
Who can use this
- Parents and families experiencing separation, divorce, or custody modifications with children under 17 years old are eligible, but those involved with the criminal justice system should consult their parole or probation officer prior to applying.
