About this resource
This initiative provides financial support to families with children who are financially struggling, aiding them in their journey towards self-sufficiency. The cash assistance is designed to cover essential needs such as food, clothing, housing, and utilities. Participants in the TANF program may have the opportunity to engage in the Jobs Opportunity and Basic Skills (JOBS) program, which focuses on helping individuals earn a high school diploma or GED, along with providing job readiness and essential life skills.
Intake Procedure: Applications can be submitted online, via phone, or in person at a local office (note that Processing Centers do not provide in-person services). After submitting an application: - The local DHS office will reach out to schedule an in-person or phone interview appointment - Applicants have the option to contact the local DHS office to arrange the interview - DHS representatives are unable to leave messages on voicemails that do not include the applicant's name in the greeting.
Fees: There are no associated fees.
Who can use this
- To qualify, applicants must be low-income families with children under 18 or pregnant women in their ninth month, reside in Oregon, and have minimal income and resources; US citizenship or qualified non-citizen status is required.
Documents you may need
- Proof of ID, proof of income, Social Security numbers (SSN) for all members of the family who want benefits, and proof of immigration status (if applicable). Applicants who have trouble obtaining proof of income or other documents can have an eligibility worker help them obtain income verification and other needed information
