About this resource

This program provides financial aid to families with children who are experiencing low income, helping them on their journey to self-sufficiency. The cash assistance aims to cover essential needs such as food, clothing, shelter, and utilities. Participants in the TANF program may have the opportunity to join the Jobs Opportunity and Basic Skills (JOBS) initiative, which supports individuals in obtaining their high school diploma or GED, along with job readiness and life skills training.

To apply, individuals can submit their applications online, over the phone, or in person at a local office (note that Processing Centers do not provide in-person services). After submitting the application: - The local DHS office will reach out to schedule an in-person or phone interview - Applicants can also initiate contact with the local DHS office to arrange the interview - DHS representatives cannot leave messages on voicemails that do not state the applicant's name in the greeting.
