County Veterans Service Offices (CVSOs) act as vital resources for veterans, their dependents, and survivors, providing insight into available benefits, resources, and entitlements. The services offered by CVSOs include: -Counseling on veterans' benefits and help with claims preparation, along with advocacy during the claims process -Guidance on federal VA benefits and additional state and federal benefits -Support for educational benefit claims -Help for veterans seeking health care enrollment -Aid in obtaining military service documents -Information on service-connected and non-service-related disability and survivor benefits -Burial benefit assistance -Details regarding veteran home loans -Oregon Veterans' Home Conservatorship services, which offer comprehensive estate management for eligible individuals classified as "protected persons" under Oregon law.

Intake Procedure: Please call to schedule an appointment.

Travel/Location: Located at the Community Action Team, Inc of Columbia County's Family Resource Center.

Fees: There are no fees for services.

Who can use this

  • Eligible individuals include veterans with a discharge status other than dishonorable and their immediate family members, such as spouses, un-remarried surviving spouses, children, or stepchildren.

Documents you may need

  • A copy of the veteran's discharge document (DD214 or Honorable Discharge). If these records are not available, the VSO will help get them. If other records are needed, the VSO will let the client know.
