About this resource
WIC is a public health initiative aimed at enhancing health outcomes and promoting lifelong nutrition and health practices for women, infants, and children. The program offers nutrition education classes, breastfeeding support, monthly benefits for additional nutritious foods, and connections to community resources. Who can use this
- To qualify for WIC, applicants must meet four requirements: -Reside in Oregon (US citizenship is not a prerequisite for WIC participation) -Be pregnant, postpartum, breastfeeding, or have a child under 5 years old. Fathers, foster parents, and other guardians may apply for a qualifying child. -Have a household income below 185% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL). Households receiving OHP, SNAP, or TANF are automatically deemed income-eligible for WIC. -Demonstrate a nutritional risk (evaluated during the appointment)
