About this resource

Migrant Education is a federally funded program designed to assist state and local educational agencies in overcoming challenges faced by migrant students regarding their enrollment, attendance, and academic success. The program offers various services, such as tutoring, personalized assistance during or after school, summer educational programs, complimentary 24-hour accident injury insurance, support for parental involvement, connections to community resources, and guidance for older youth transitioning to college and careers.

Who can use this

  • To qualify, applicants must meet the following criteria: -Be 21 years old or younger -Be eligible for free public education up to grade 12 and not have graduated or obtained a GED -Have relocated within the last 36 months due to economic necessity between residences and school districts, or to join a parent, guardian, or spouse who is a migratory agricultural worker or fisher -Have recently engaged in qualifying temporary or seasonal work in agriculture or fishing within 60 days of the move -Have employment lasting less than 12 months in agricultural or fishing sectors.
