About this resource
The initiative seeks volunteers to read with children, encouraging a passion for reading while supplying books for kids to keep and grow their personal collections. The North Coast Team operates from SMART's main office in Portland, with staff frequently visiting the regions served by this team.
Intake Procedure: Interested individuals can walk in, make a call, or check the website for further details. Volunteer applications can be found online.
Fees: There are no associated costs.
Who can use this
- Participants in the literacy program are children aged 5-10 (from Pre-K to grade 3), while volunteers are required to complete a national criminal background check.
