About this resource

The Employment Related Day Care program (ERDC) provides financial assistance for child care to families who are employed, enrolled in educational programs, or receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), which includes help with registration fees.

Application Process: Interested individuals can apply through the internet, via telephone, or by visiting a local ODHS Self Sufficiency Branch Office.

Costs: As a subsidy initiative, ERDC requires many families to contribute a portion of the child care expenses, known as a copayment (copay), which varies based on family size and income levels.

Who can use this

  • Eligible participants must: -Reside in Oregon -Be employed, attending school, or receiving TANF. -In two-parent households, both parents should be working or studying (this does not apply to TANF recipients). -Exceptions exist for circumstances where one parent cannot provide care due to medical or mental health issues, or if state-mandated supervised contact is necessary. -Require child care to maintain employment, pursue education, or engage in family well-being activities. -Have a child who is: -Under 13 years old needing care, or -Aged 13 to 17 with special circumstances requiring care. -Adhere to income thresholds: Initial limit at 200% FPL and ongoing/exit limit at 250% FPL; refer to the website for detailed income charts.
