The cash assistance aims to cover essential needs like food, clothing, shelter, and utilities. Recipients of TANF may also have the opportunity to join the Jobs Opportunity and Basic Skills (JOBS) program, which aids in obtaining a high school diploma or GED, along with job readiness and essential life skills.

After submitting the application: - The local DHS office will reach out to the applicant to arrange an in-person or phone interview - Applicants have the option to contact the local DHS office to schedule the interview - DHS representatives are not permitted to leave messages on voicemails that do not include the applicant's name in the greeting.
