About this resource

Migrant Education is a federal initiative that allocates funds to assist state and local educational agencies in eliminating obstacles to migrant students' enrollment, attendance, and academic success. The program offers various services such as tutoring, personalized assistance during and after school, summer school, complimentary 24-hour accident injury insurance, support for parental involvement, referrals to community resources, and guidance for older youth transitioning to college and careers.

Who can use this

  • Applicants must fulfill the following requirements: -Be 21 years old or younger -Eligible for free public education up to grade 12 and have not yet graduated or received a GED -Relocated in the last 36 months due to economic necessity from one home to another and from one school district to another OR to accompany a parent, guardian, or spouse who is a migratory agricultural worker or fisher -Must have started new qualifying temporary or seasonal employment in agriculture or fishing within 60 days of the relocation -Must have worked less than 12 months in agricultural or fishing sectors.
