About this resource

Migrant Education is a federal initiative that allocates funds to support state and local educational agencies in eliminating obstacles that migrant students encounter regarding school enrollment, attendance, and academic success. The program offers various services such as tutoring, personalized assistance during class or after school, summer school, complimentary 24-hour accident injury insurance, support for parental involvement, connections to community resources, and guidance for college and career transitions for older youth.

Who can use this

  • Applicants must fulfill the following requirements: -Aged 21 or younger -Eligible for free public education up to grade 12 and not yet graduated or obtained a GED -Relocated within the last 36 months due to economic necessity between residences and school districts OR to join a parent, guardian, or spouse who is a migratory agricultural worker or fisher -Must have participated in new qualifying temporary or seasonal work in agriculture or fishing within 60 days of the move -Employment in agricultural or fishing sectors must be less than 12 months.
