About this resource
The initiative aims to recruit volunteers who will read with children, encouraging a love for reading while providing books that children can keep to grow their own libraries. The North Coast Team operates from SMART's main office in Portland, with regular visits to the areas they serve.
Intake Process: Interested individuals can walk in, call, or check the website for additional details. Volunteer applications can be found online.
Cost: There are no fees involved.
Who can use this
- Participants in the literacy program are aged 5-10 (from Pre-K to grade 3), and volunteers must complete a national criminal background check.
