Who can use this
- Eligibility is assessed individually, with income requirements set at 200% of the federal poverty level or lower, which refers to monthly income before taxes. Additional factors influencing eligibility and the amount of monthly SNAP benefits include income sources, housing expenses, utility costs, medical expenses for individuals aged 60 and older or those with disabilities, and family member relationships. Students, immigrants, and adults aged 18-52 without dependents may face extra requirements beyond the income limits. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or meet certain non-citizen criteria.
Documents you may need
- No documents are required to submit an application. The following documents may be requested during or after the interview -Social Security number (SSN) for everyone who wishes to apply for benefits (not required to provide Social Security card) -Proof of gross income for the last 30 days (pay stubs, a letter from the employer, an award letter, for self-employment bank statements showing business revenue and costs) -Non-citizens must provide legal documentation for ODHS to determine if they meet the eligibility criteria. ODHS can verify identity with an SSN or another method. -Applicants experiencing homelessness will need a temporary mailing address to apply. An eligibility worker will assist if other documents are needed. -Applicants who have trouble obtaining proof of income or other documents can have an eligibility worker help them obtain income verification and other needed information -Adults age 60 and older and adults with disabilities may be eligible for increased benefits by providing proof of their out-of-pocket medical expenses
