Costs: Families are responsible for a closing fee that can reach up to $3000. There is no down payment required for closing costs, and a 0% interest mortgage (0% APR) is available. The duration of the mortgage can vary based on income, with Habitat ensuring that the monthly payment (including taxes, insurance, and any applicable condo fees) does not exceed 30% of the homeowner's gross monthly income at the time of sale.
Who can use this
- Families living in inadequate housing who satisfy the following criteria: -Adhere to income guidelines -Can dedicate 500 hours of sweat equity in construction -Are U.S. citizens or permanent residents -Have not owned a home in the last 3 years -Possess the ability to make mortgage payments (stable income and good credit history)
