About this resource
This initiative provides financial support to low-income families with children as they aim for self-sufficiency. The cash assistance is designed to cover fundamental needs like food, clothing, shelter, and utilities. Participants in the TANF program may also have the opportunity to engage in the Jobs Opportunity and Basic Skills (JOBS) program, which aids in obtaining a high school diploma or GED, along with job readiness and life skills training.
Intake Procedure: Applications can be submitted online, via phone, or in person at a local office (Note: Processing Centers do not provide in-person services). After submission: - The local DHS office will reach out to schedule an in-person or phone interview - Applicants can also initiate contact with the local DHS office to arrange the interview - DHS representatives are unable to leave messages on voicemails that do not state the applicant's name in the greeting.
Travel/Location: Located one block east of Highway 101 between First and Second Streets, directly behind Starbucks.
Fees: There are no fees associated with this program.
Who can use this
- - Families with children under 18 or pregnant women in their 9th month, where the parent is the head of the household and under 18, - Must reside in Oregon - Should have very low or no income and minimal resources (like property, vehicles, or bank accounts). The applicant must be a US Citizen or a qualified non-citizen. Non-citizen parents can apply for benefits on behalf of their US Citizen children.
Documents you may need
- Proof of ID, proof of income, Social Security numbers (SSN) for all members of the family who want benefits, and proof of immigration status (if applicable). Applicants who have trouble obtaining proof of income or other documents can have an eligibility worker help them obtain income verification and other needed information
