About this resource
This initiative assists adults living independently in keeping their homes secure and safe by offering security and fire safety inspections, educational resources, installation of security devices, enhancing house address visibility, engraving personal valuables, and inspecting, installing, and maintaining smoke alarms. Volunteers and local law enforcement agencies provide assistance.
Intake Procedure: -Call to arrange a home safety inspection -Visit the website for additional details.
Travel/Location: From Salem: Take Exit 234-B/Highway 99E onto Pacific Boulevard, proceed through six traffic signals, then follow the road to the right-hand exit (sign reads City Center, Corvallis) onto Lyon Street (one-way street) heading north. Shift to the left lane and continue to 4th Street. Turn left and go to the next stop sign at the corner of 4th and Ellsworth; the location will be on the right. From Eugene: Take Exit 233/Highway 20, turning right onto Highway 20/Santiam Highway. Continue through six traffic signals; Santiam merges into Pacific Boulevard. Follow the road to the right-hand exit (sign reads City Center, Corvallis) onto Lyon Street (one-way street) heading north. Shift to the left lane and continue to 4th Street. Turn left and proceed to the next stop sign at the corner of 4th and Ellsworth; the location will be on the right. Accessible via Amtrak, Bolt Bus, Albany Transit System, Linn-Benton Loop, and Linn Shuttle.
Fees: Costs vary by service; most services are either free or low-cost.
