About this resource
This initiative supports SNAP beneficiaries in acquiring skills, training, work experience, and employment to enhance their chances of securing living-wage jobs. It might cover expenses such as training fees, textbooks, transportation costs, housing, utilities, and work attire.
Intake Procedure: For STEP, contact your local DHS office for a referral. For the ABAWD program, you can request participation or an exemption by calling or emailing, or by visiting the website for further details.
Fees: There are no fees associated with this program.
Who can use this
- The STEP program is available to individuals in Oregon who are receiving SNAP benefits, are at least 16 years old, and are not receiving TANF benefits. The ABAWD program targets those aged 18-49 without children under 18 on their SNAP case, who do not qualify for an exemption or reside in an exempt county.
