About this resource
The initiative aims to recruit volunteers who will read with children, encouraging a love for reading while providing them with books to keep and grow their personal collections. The North Coast Team operates from SMART's main office in Portland, frequently visiting the regions they serve.
Intake Procedure: Interested individuals can walk in, call, or check the website for further details. Volunteer applications can be found online.
Fees: There are no associated costs.
Who can use this
- Participants in the literacy program are ages 5-10 (Pre-K through grade 3), while volunteers must complete a national criminal background check.
