About this resource
This initiative provides financial aid to families with children who are experiencing low income, assisting them in their journey towards self-reliance. The cash assistance aims to cover essential needs such as food, clothing, shelter, and utilities. Recipients of TANF may also have the opportunity to engage in the Jobs Opportunity and Basic Skills (JOBS) program, which helps individuals earn their high school diploma or GED, as well as develop job readiness and life skills.
Intake Procedure: Applications can be submitted online, via phone, or in person at a local office (Processing Centers do not provide in-person services). After submitting the application: - The local DHS office will contact the applicant to arrange an in-person or phone interview - Applicants can also reach out to the local DHS office to schedule the interview - DHS representatives are unable to leave messages on voicemails without the applicant's name stated in the greeting.
Fees: There are no fees associated with this program.
Who can use this
- To qualify, applicants must be low-income families with children under 18 or pregnant women in their 9th month, reside in Oregon, and have minimal income and resources; US citizenship or qualified non-citizen status is required.
Documents you may need
- Proof of ID, proof of income, Social Security numbers (SSN) for all members of the family who want benefits, and proof of immigration status (if applicable). Applicants who have trouble obtaining proof of income or other documents can have an eligibility worker help them obtain income verification and other needed information
