Who can use this
- To qualify as a certified resource respite home, applicants must meet certain criteria: -Be at least 21 years old -Pass a background check -Show financial independence (families should not rely on foster care stipends) -Complete orientation and pre-certification training, and uphold certification through ongoing education -Have reliable transportation -At least one driver over 21 with a valid Oregon driver’s license -A separate bedroom with a door and window for the foster child placed in the home. Youth eligibility for respite homes includes: -Ages 3-17 -Living in Multnomah, Clackamas, or Washington Counties -Active case with respite included in the treatment plan, referred by a mental health therapist -Possess Oregon Health Plan (OHP) coverage (not open card) -Approved by CareOregon with respite authorization -At risk of out-of-home placement due to mental health issues -Behaviors manageable by the service -Family emotional distress from the youth’s mental health disorder can be alleviated with the service -Not currently suicidal, homicidal, or aggressive -Engaged with a mental health provider for after-hours crisis intervention during respite -Have a foster home placement or family home available after the respite period.
