About this resource
This program provides daily notifications about restrictions on wood burning during days of poor air quality. Residents, renters, and businesses in Multnomah County are prohibited from burning wood when air quality forecasts indicate poor conditions, unless an exemption is obtained. On days classified as having poor air quality, the use of wood or pellet stoves, fireplaces, outdoor fire pits, and chimineas is not allowed. However, this ordinance does not cover cooking methods using charcoal grills, smokers, or wood-fired ovens. To report a violation on a red day, individuals can call the reporting number or submit an online complaint. Always check air quality conditions and burn advisory status prior to burning, as a red advisory means
