About this resource

This initiative supports Native youth and their families engaged with foster care by providing cultural guidance, linking them to community resources, and aiding in reunification or securing permanent homes. The program offers group meetings, support classes, and family-oriented events. It also actively recruits and assists Native American foster families, helping them navigate the certification process. Services available for foster parents include Positive Indian Parenting classes, Sibling and Family Night events, and assistance with genealogy and regalia. Legal advice is not part of the services offered.

Intake Procedure: Referral is required from a Department of Human Services (DHS) Caseworker.

Travel/Location: Accessible via TriMet Bus 75.

Fees: No costs involved.

Who can use this

  • Native American youth aged 0-24 in state or tribal foster care, along with their birth and foster parents, are eligible for services, which extend to young adults up to age 24 who have aged out of the system.
