About this resource
This initiative provides monetary assistance to families with children who are experiencing low income, helping them work towards self-reliance. The financial aid is designed to cover essential needs such as food, clothing, shelter, and utility expenses. Participants in the TANF program may also have the opportunity to engage in the Jobs Opportunity and Basic Skills (JOBS) program, which aids in obtaining a high school diploma or GED, along with job readiness and life skills training.
Intake Procedure: Applications can be submitted online, via phone, or in person at a local office. After submission: - The local ODHS office will reach out to schedule an in-person or phone interview - Applicants may also contact the local ODHS office to arrange the interview - ODHS staff are unable to leave messages on voicemails that do not include the applicant's name in the greeting.
Fees: There are no associated fees.
Who can use this
- This program is intended for families that: - Reside in Oregon - Have minimal or no income and very few assets (such as property, vehicles, or bank accounts). The applicant must: - Be a parent or guardian of a child aged 18 or younger, or - Be pregnant, or - Be 18 or younger and the head of their household. The applicant must also be a US citizen or a qualified non-citizen, with non-citizen parents able to apply for benefits for their US citizen children.
Documents you may need
- Proof of ID, proof of income, Social Security numbers (SSN) for all members of the family who want benefits, and proof of immigration status (if applicable). Applicants who have trouble obtaining proof of income or other documents can have an eligibility worker help them obtain income verification and other needed information
