About this resource

Summer EBT is a program designed to assist families in purchasing groceries for their school-aged children when school is not in session. Each summer, families receive a single payment of $120 on an EBT card for every eligible child to help with grocery expenses. Any unused Summer EBT benefits will expire 122 days after they are issued. A helpline is available for inquiries regarding general information, eligibility checks, application status, and EBT card concerns.

Application Process: For details, please visit the website. Families can apply for benefits for 2026 at any time by filling out an application, which can be submitted via mail or email.

Cost: There are no fees associated with this program.

Who can use this

  • Families may qualify for Summer EBT automatically if their child has been approved through an application or if the child attends a school that participates in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) or School Breakfast Program (SBP) and meets specific income criteria. Some families may need to apply if their household meets the income thresholds for free or reduced-price meals at school.
