About this resource

This initiative provides financial aid to families with children who are facing low income, assisting them on their journey to self-sufficiency. The cash support is designed to cover essential needs such as food, clothing, shelter, and utilities. Participants in the TANF program may also have the opportunity to engage in the Jobs Opportunity and Basic Skills (JOBS) program, which aids in obtaining a high school diploma or GED, along with job readiness and life skills training.

Intake Process: Applications can be submitted online, via phone, or in person at a local office. After submission: - The local ODHS office will reach out to schedule an in-person or phone interview - Applicants can also initiate the interview appointment by contacting the local ODHS office - ODHS staff cannot leave messages on voicemails that do not identify the applicant's name in the greeting.

Costs: There are no fees associated with this program.

Who can use this

  • Eligible families must reside in Oregon, have minimal or no income and limited resources, and the applicant must be a parent or caregiver of a child under 18, pregnant, or a head of household under 18; applicants must also be US citizens or qualified non-citizens.

Documents you may need

  • Proof of ID, proof of income, Social Security numbers (SSN) for all members of the family who want benefits, and proof of immigration status (if applicable). Applicants who have trouble obtaining proof of income or other documents can have an eligibility worker help them obtain income verification and other needed information
