Pantry Of Greater Portland
Community Resource
About this resource
The program hosts a weekly food pantry, collecting food from three nearby supermarkets for distribution. The pantry offers a variety of items including meats, frozen goods, vegetables, fruits, breads, desserts, eggs, dairy products, and flowers. The selection and amount of groceries available can change weekly, resulting in varying quantities provided each time.
Intake Procedure: Individuals can walk in to participate. Upon arrival, they receive a numbered ticket and line up according to their ticket number. At a time, five shoppers enter the pantry, where volunteers assist them in selecting their preferred items. Volunteers inform shoppers of the quantity each family is allowed to take based on the available stock. It is recommended to bring reusable bags for carrying groceries, although boxes are provided for those who forget.
Fees: There are no fees involved.
