About this resource
This program provides financial aid to families with children who are facing low income, assisting them in their journey towards self-sufficiency. The cash assistance is designed to cover essential needs such as food, clothing, shelter, and utilities. Participants in the TANF program may also have the opportunity to engage in the Jobs Opportunity and Basic Skills (JOBS) initiative, which helps them achieve a high school diploma or GED, along with job readiness and essential life skills.
Application Process: Individuals can apply online, via phone, or in person at a local office. After submitting the application: - The local ODHS office will reach out to schedule an in-person or phone interview - Applicants have the option to contact the local ODHS office to arrange the interview - ODHS representatives are unable to leave messages on voicemails that do not include the applicant's name in the greeting.
Cost: There are no fees associated with this program.
Who can use this
- To qualify for this program, families must: - Reside in Oregon - Have minimal or no income and limited resources (such as property, vehicles, or bank accounts). The applicant must: - Be the parent or guardian of a child aged 18 or younger, or - Be pregnant, or - Be 18 or younger and the head of their household. Additionally, the applicant must be a US citizen or a qualified non-citizen, though parents without US citizenship can apply for benefits on behalf of their US citizen children.
Documents you may need
- Proof of ID, proof of income, Social Security numbers (SSN) for all members of the family who want benefits, and proof of immigration status (if applicable). Applicants who have trouble obtaining proof of income or other documents can have an eligibility worker help them obtain income verification and other needed information
