Council On American-Islamic Relations
Community Resource
About this resource
The organization strives to improve the understanding of Islam, promote dialogue, defend civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and form coalitions that advocate for justice and mutual respect. Both the national and local offices collect reports on hate crimes, harassment, and other discriminatory acts against Muslims. They issue action alerts to mobilize grassroots responses to various political, social, and media issues. Several CAIR publications, such as an annual civil rights report, can be accessed online. CAIR and its chapters frequently organize voter registration initiatives nationwide to boost Muslim involvement in politics. They also host conferences and seminars about Islam and Muslims for government and law enforcement officials, media representatives, and the academic sector. Diversity training workshops are available for employers, educators, and organizations.
