About this resource

Migrant and Seasonal Head Start programs deliver education, health care, nutrition, social services, and additional support, such as developmental screenings, specifically for migrant children whose parents are employed in agricultural fields. The initiative aids preschoolers in enhancing their language, reading, and math abilities essential for academic success, while also promoting parental engagement. Services available for parents and expectant mothers include parenting workshops, family support, and opportunities for leadership. Additionally, wrap-around child care services may be provided.

Who can use this

  • To qualify for Migrant and Seasonal Head Start, children must be aged 3-5 and have parents who are seasonal or migrant agricultural workers who relocated within the past two years, with family income at or below 100% of the federal poverty level.
