About this resource

This program provides financial aid to families with children who are experiencing low income, assisting them in their journey towards self-sufficiency. The cash assistance is designed to cover essential needs like food, clothing, housing, and utilities. Participants of TANF may also engage in the Jobs Opportunity and Basic Skills (JOBS) program, which aids in obtaining a high school diploma or GED, along with job readiness and essential life skills.

Intake Procedure: Applications can be submitted online, via phone, or in person at a local office (note that Processing Centers do not provide in-person services). After submitting an application: - The local DHS office will contact the applicant to arrange either an in-person or phone interview - Applicants may reach out to the local DHS office to schedule the interview - DHS representatives cannot leave messages on voicemails that do not state the applicant's name in the voicemail greeting.

Fees: There are no fees associated with this program.

Who can use this

  • Eligible applicants include low-income families with children under 18, pregnant women in their 9th month, and those living in Oregon with minimal income and resources.

Documents you may need

  • Proof of ID, proof of income, Social Security numbers (SSN) for all members of the family who want benefits, and proof of immigration status (if applicable). Applicants who have trouble obtaining proof of income or other documents can have an eligibility worker help them obtain income verification and other needed information
