Who can use this

  • Eligibility is assessed individually, with income limits set at 200% of the federal poverty level or below, based on monthly earnings before taxes. Additional factors influencing eligibility and benefit amounts include income sources, housing and utility expenses, medical costs for individuals aged 60 and older or those with disabilities, and family relationships. Certain groups, such as students, immigrants, and adults aged 18-52 without dependents, may need to fulfill extra criteria beyond the income limits. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or satisfy specific non-citizen criteria.

Documents you may need

  • No documents are required to submit an application. The following documents may be requested during or after the interview: -Social Security number (SSN) for everyone who wishes to apply for benefits (not required to provide Social Security card) -Proof of gross income for the last 30 days (pay stubs, a letter from the employer, an award letter, for self-employment bank statements showing business revenue and costs) -Non-citizens must provide legal documentation for ODHS to determine if they meet the eligibility criteria. Some examples include I-94, Permanent Resident Card, I-551, Employment Authorization, and I-688B. -Photo ID may be helpful but is not required. ODHS can verify identity with an SSN or another method. -Applicants experiencing homelessness will need a temporary mailing address to apply. An eligibility worker will assist if other documents are needed. -Applicants who have trouble obtaining proof of income or other documents can have an eligibility worker help them obtain income verification and other needed information -Adults age 60 and older and adults with disabilities may be eligible for increased benefits by providing proof of their out-of-pocket medical expenses
