About this resource
This initiative provides financial aid to families with children who are facing low income while they aim for self-sufficiency. The cash assistance is designed to cover essential needs such as food, clothing, shelter, and utilities. Participants in the TANF program may also have the opportunity to engage in the Jobs Opportunity and Basic Skills (JOBS) program, which helps individuals earn a high school diploma or GED, along with job readiness and life skills training.
Application Process: Individuals can apply online, via phone, or in person at a local office (note that Processing Centers do not provide in-person services). After submitting an application: - The local DHS office will reach out to schedule an in-person or phone interview - Applicants can also contact the local DHS office to arrange the interview - DHS representatives cannot leave messages on voicemails that lack the applicant's name in the greeting.
Cost: There are no fees associated with this program.
