About this resource
This program provides financial support to low-income families with children as they work toward becoming self-sufficient. The cash assistance is designed to cover essential needs such as food, clothing, shelter, and utilities. Participants in the TANF program may also have the opportunity to join the Jobs Opportunity and Basic Skills (JOBS) program, which aids in obtaining a high school diploma or GED, along with job readiness and life skills training.
Intake Procedure: Applications can be submitted online, via phone, or in person at a local office (note that Processing Centers do not provide in-person services). After submission, the local DHS office will contact the applicant to arrange an in-person or phone interview. Applicants can also reach out to the local DHS office to schedule the interview. DHS staff are unable to leave messages on voicemails that do not include the applicant's name in the greeting.
