Washington County Sheriff'S Office
Community Resource
About this resource
This initiative offers support to older adults following the reporting of a crime and continues to assist them as they navigate the criminal justice system. Many older victims may face disabilities that hinder their ability to read legal documents or travel alone to court. The assistance provided is customized to meet the individual needs of each victim, which may involve personal support, advocacy in court, or guidance in completing necessary forms. The staff and volunteers are trained to recognize the specific requirements of victims, including the need for information, validation, restitution, testimony, and ongoing support as their cases progress through the justice system.
