This organization is responsible for establishing licensure and certification standards, interpreting the Oregon Nurse Practice Act, keeping updated lists of approved nursing educational programs in Oregon, assessing and sanctioning nursing and nursing assistant programs, issuing licenses and renewals, investigating complaints, and enforcing disciplinary measures against those who breach the Oregon Nurse Practice Act. It also maintains the nursing assistant registry and offers testimony to legislative bodies and other organizations as required.
