Oregon State Bar

About this resource
This initiative manages a referral panel that connects individuals with attorneys willing to offer pro bono legal support, mainly in relation to the Servicemembers' Civil Relief Act (SCRA), which grants extra legal protections to those entering or called to active duty in the US Armed Forces. Additionally, many volunteer attorneys provide assistance in areas such as family law, consumer/credit law, landlord-tenant issues, and estate planning.
Intake Process: To begin, contact the Oregon Army National Guard for an authorization number (military reference or "MR"), then reach out to the Lawyer Referral Service for a referral to a participating attorney.
Fees: There is no charge for the referral. Volunteer attorneys are expected to offer up to 2 hours of legal advice free of charge, with the decision to continue the lawyer/client relationship after the pro bono consultation resting with the lawyer and client.
