Oregon State Bar
Community Resource
About this resource
This initiative links moderate-income households with attorneys who provide services at lower fees. Modest Means attorneys specialize in family law, criminal defense, foreclosure, and landlord/tenant disputes. The availability of these attorneys is limited, and they may not be present in all regions of Oregon.
Intake Procedure: Interested individuals can call for details or to request an application. Applications can also be accessed online and may be submitted via email, mail, or fax.
Fees: The initial consultation costs a maximum of $35 for the first 30 minutes, with a reduced retainer required and hourly fees based on income, ranging from $60 to $100 per hour.
Who can use this
- Eligibility is determined by the nature of the legal issue, the client's income and assets, and the availability of participating attorneys, targeting those who earn too much for legal aid yet cannot afford standard legal fees.
