About this resource

Summer EBT is a program designed to offer grocery benefits to families, enabling them to buy food for their school-aged children when school is not in session. Each summer, families receive a single annual payment of $120 on an EBT card for each eligible child to use for grocery purchases. Any unused Summer EBT benefits will expire 122 days after they are issued. A helpline is available for inquiries related to general questions, eligibility verification, application status, and EBT card assistance.

Who can use this

  • Families may automatically qualify for Summer EBT if: a participating child has been approved for benefits through an accepted application OR if the children attend a school that is part of the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) or School Breakfast Program (SBP) and meet the income criteria based on household size, with SNAP allotment greater than $0 or Medicaid programs with income eligibility at or below 185% of the Federal Poverty level. Families may need to apply if their household meets the income criteria for free or reduced-price meals at school and the child is enrolled in a participating NSLP or SBP school.
